The Journal Star began compiling electronic archives of stories in 1991. If you are looking for photos, please visit MyCapture.com.
With exception to paid society announcements, all stories written by Journal Star staff since then are available for $2.95/download though NewsLibrary. Obituaries are available for free for 30 days through our partner Legacy.com.
The Journal Star does not make stories available immediately after publication. At this time, it normally takes two to four weeks before a story is archived properly.
There is no charge for searching the archive. To read the full story, you will need to log-in to your NewsLibrary account; if you don't have an account, you will be prompted to create one.
If you wish to find a story published in a Peoria newspaper before 1991, you can use your public library. All public libraries in the United States share resources through a national resource exchange program. The Peoria Public Library, which participates in this program, has microfilm for Peoria newspapers dating from 1837 and an index from July 15, 1991 to present. For more information on this program, please contact your public library.
